Minister

Archange Antoine is in love with the gospel of Jesus Christ which focuses on helping those who have lost hope due to personal and systemic issues. It inspires him to engage in the public sphere, working with church members, the wider community, and various partners to find transformational solutions for people who have lost hope due to living in poverty, oppression, and in a system that denies God’s people their rights, freedom, and human dignity.

Archange has a long history of working with other religions and faith traditions on the difficult journey toward achieving social justice. His relationship with other clergy leaders and community members goes beyond common interest in the social, political, and economic mobility of people in the community. He believes strong relationships begin by validating others’ humanity, seeing each person as a sibling—part of the global family. It is only by recognizing our common humanity that we can lock arms to transform the future of our neighborhoods, communities, nation, and world.

Archange received his Master of Divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary, is an ordained Minister in the Baptist church, and was an ordained Elder in the Pentecostal tradition. He has a strong faith in the Living God who has no limits. This faith in the Living God informs his inclusive outlook on salvation and how God’s people are spread throughout the world and even in other religions. He loves teaching Roman Christian history (200–400), Reformation History (1400–1500), and American Christian history (1600 –1900) because he believes most Christians have been deprived of fundamental Christian history.

Human Rights Organizer

Archange comes from a long family tradition of service. His brother is a pastor who dedicates his life to helping the homeless and those fighting drug addiction. His sister is a survivor of suicide who dedicates her life to supporting those with mental health challenges. His family all learned the power of service by watching their mom who took young women into their home who had been kicked out of their own homes. She would welcome them into the family and support them until they graduated high school and started working.

Archange’s family are immigrants from Haiti who came to America as political refugees during the three-decade Duvalier dictatorship, which killed 60,000 Haitian citizens. His family’s story helped shape his interest in foreign policy and how to bring attention to those facing state violence. Over the years, Archange has worked with allies to criticize America’s foreign policy, which perpetuates war, maintains the military-industrial complex, props up dictators, assassinates foreign diplomats, and destabilizes sovereign nations to advance the interest of multinational corporations. Archange has worked with coalition partners and human rights organizations on issues ranging from ending the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to holding the governments of Hong Kong, Nigeria, Israel, and the Dominican Republic accountable for their human rights violations.

Politico

Archange believes it is essential to be involved and engaged in the political and electoral process. Public policies can support people, build communities, and set the next generation up for success or they can hurt individuals, dismantle neighborhoods, and set the younger generation back for centuries. He believes that people must work in groups, coalitions, and through movements to ensure their voices are at the table when decisions are being made, especially if they are going to advance transformational issues that improve the material condition of people, especially the poor.

He served in local, state, and national roles party roles to help win elections for local, county, state, and national candidates. Eventually, he ran for office, won, and become one of the youngest elected officials on the school board for almost 10 years. As an elected official, he dedicated his public service to challenging the status quo, calling out corruption, advancing economic integrity, and doing everything in his power to promote policies that helped children and the people in the community.
